Coconut Oil (Lubricant)

Bullet Points

Benefits

  • You may already have it & cheap compared to sexual lubricants.
  • Very convenient, extra skin benefits over lube.
  • Can compare in lubrication to the vast majority of lubricants.
  • Extremely safe to beneficial on all body parts
  • Very easy to clean
  • Good for smell-conditioning.
  • Combines well with other oils. (See follow-up article on Peppermint Oil)
  • Can be mixed with a body-safe sweetener such as Sucralose for a tasty time.

Downsides:

  • Smells like coconut, which may be an issue for some.
  • Being an oil, it is incompatible with many condoms.
  • Being an oil, it can degrade certain toys.

Safety Tips:

  • As with most oils, avoid rubber and latex, I.E. many condoms.
  • Will dangerously degrade certain toys in a matter of weeks/months. We suggest Silicone or Stainless toys or frequent toy replacement. See safety data at the bottom of the page for more.
  • Do not use your fingers to pick it up from the jar. Do not reintroduce bacteria into the jar after using it. We suggest a soft squeeze bottle that can be warmed up to liquify the oil, or squeezed to take out chunks as needed.

Thoughts

Slippery, tasty, and even smells good – you (or your submissive, if you’re into reinforcement training!) are likely to begin to associate the smell with horny thoughts.

Once the association made, a massage with coconut oil is guaranteed to elicit certain reactions… perhaps even preventing the need for a lubricant.

If you also use it for cooking, this effect may be a downside… or a fun benefit. Naked apron? Over the counter? The kitchen comes with many possibilities…

Relative to other lubricants, it’s usually fairly cheap – you’ll still want to get the good stuff, extra virgin / cold pressed unrefined. It stays solid at most room temperatures, which makes transportation and application very easy.

Took out too much lube by accident? It also makes for a great moisturizer with many benefits, so spread it around for a great shine and a slippery time!

The possibilities go even further when you introduce other components to the mix – between making it tastier, to oils that cause various sensations, there are all kinds of concoctions to be made.

Body Safety

Mouth
Safe to ingest, and generally beneficial, though like with any oil, consuming excessive quantities can cause expedited bowel movements or stomach aches.

Eyes
Safe to use on eyelids, or the delicate skin around it. Unpleasant, but ultimately not harmful if it gets into the orb itself, and can be flushed out with clean water.

Nipples
Safe, and an excellent moisturizer.

Armpits
Safe.

Anus
Safe, can help prevent tearing, and decrease odor remnants on toys.

Vagina
Safe, can help prevent tearing, and improve flexibility/elasticity of the flesh. Avoid completely flushing as that can harm beneficial flora within.

Penis
Safe, for circumcised and uncircumcised users. Consistent use can increase skin elasticity, and help soften calluses or tough skin.

Urethra
Safe, with a caveat. Like with all substances, avoid forcing large quantities of it directly into the hole, as it can clog it, and bring in bacteria from outside the area. As always, it is recommended to pee after any and all interactions involving a urethra.

Skin
Safe, and an excellent moisturizer.

Totally safe, smells good, and even tastes good!

Material Safety

Clothes
Can cause stains (Like most oils), but is generally easily cleaned with any soap that breaks down oils. Doesn’t stain a particular color, but in large quantities can make the cloth more stiff when cold due to the temperature it’s solid at. Avoid getting on furniture.

Silicone
Safe – For powered toys, avoid getting oil into crevices where the motor, buttons, or other delicate parts lay.

PVC
Unsafe, will eventually break down the toy (in months of use), and when it breaks down, harmful chemicals will be released.

TPR/TPE
Unsafe, will eventually break down the toy (in months of use), causing pieces of it to fall off.

Latex
Unsafe, will eventually break down the toy (in months/weeks of use).

Rubber
Unsafe, will eventually break down the toy (in months of use).

Hard Plastic (ABS)
Seemingly safe.
